ZyDocs MediSapien NLP Medical Knowledge Management Platform Well-Received at HDI Datapalooza 2012

Hauppauge, NY (PRWEB) July 06, 2012

The MediSapien Knowledge Management Platform was well-received at the 2012 Health Data Initiative (HDI) Datapalooza held in Washington, D.C. June 5 and 6. MediSapien was one of 100 companies selected in the competition for exhibiting at the federally-sponsored HDI Datapalooza event, which focused on the importance of health care data for the health care informatics industry. HDI is a public-private collaboration initiated by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) and the Institute of Medicine.

Launched in the first quarter of 2012 as a new business under ZyDoc, a New York-based informatics and e-transcription company, MediSapien utilizes patent-pending disruptive NLP technologies to solve the challenges of capturing, structuring, and transmitting patient health data as structured data accompanied by human-readable text. The MediSapien Platform provides secure enterprise-class Cloud-based services for capture of unstructured data from diverse sources, and conversion into standardized, coded, structured terminologies. The structured output is optimized for EHR insertion and universal health data exchange to facilitate documentation and coordination of care.

MediSapien accepts a wide variety of industry standard input sources including EHR semi-structured data, manual and voice-recognized transcription from dictation (automated speech recognition or ASR), and legacy data via numerous methods. MediSapien can be used by physicians, hospitals, and HIEs, and leveraged by a wide range of channel partners including EHRs, medical transcription service organizations (MTSOs), coding and billing/RCM vendors, and analytics companies.

Datapalooza clearly showed that health care applications will drive the value proposition for end-users, validating our cross-platform channel partner strategy which allows end-users to assemble best-of-breed solutions, states James Maisel, M.D., Chairman of ZyDoc and MediSapien. Virtually all of the vendors showing analytic solutions require very specific health care data, and MediSapien is one of the few that generates the rich data required by most of them. We anticipate working with a number of these companies as we continue to show the value of our knowledge management platform for extracting, structuring, and standardizing data.

An updated calendar of MediSapien exhibition dates and educational presentations on NLP, Computer-Assisted Coding, Structured Data, and other related topics, is available at http://www.zydoc.com. Online or in-person demonstrations of MediSapien can be scheduled with advance notice. Third-party developers are also invited to learn more about opportunities for leveraging MediSapien technology for new applications.
